Members and roles

Everyone on your team gets their own account and a role. Access is by invitation only: there are no public share links, so what you track stays between the people you invite.

Project and organization

In ClickClacks, a project is one product you track. Some account and team screens call the same thing an organization, such as Organization Settings and Organization Roles. They are the same: one project, one organization, with the same name.

Invite people

  1. Open Settings › Members and click Invite people, or press ⌘K and choose Invite member.
  2. Enter their email and choose an Initial role.
  3. Click Send invitation.

They get an email with a link that stays valid for 7 days, and they join when they accept. Pending invitations are on the Invitations tab, where you can Resend or Revoke them.

Roles

Each member has exactly one role. Three are built in and can’t be edited:

RoleCan
OwnerEverything: members, roles, the audit log, organization settings (name, address, reporting time zone, logo), custom domain, Lexicon editing, identity merges, and API access and MCP keys.
AdminInvite people, change roles, suspend and remove members, and read the audit log. No settings, roles or API keys.
MemberUse every report and create boards, funnels, insights, segments, alerts and experiments. Can see who else is a member.

Every role can use all the analytics. Roles decide who manages the team and the project’s settings. Anyone who isn’t an Owner sees a read-only Settings › General page with the project’s name, web address, time zone and their own role.

Custom roles

Owners can make their own roles under Settings › Organization Roles. Click Create role, name it, start from an existing role’s permissions if you like, tick the permissions it should have, and review. Anything not ticked is denied. Custom roles are marked Custom. When you delete one, you choose the role to Reassign to for everyone who had it.

Managing members

  • Search by name or email, and filter by role or status.
  • Change someone’s role from their row.
  • Suspend blocks their access without removing them. Restore brings them back.
  • Remove takes away their access to this project straight away.
  • A project always needs an Owner. Add another Owner before changing, suspending or removing the last one.

Every change is recorded under Settings › Audit Events.

Tips and gotchas

  • Members aren’t people. Members are your team. People are the visitors and users you track.
  • Showing a board to someone means inviting them to the project. A private board stays private even then.
  • Running several projects or clients? See Agencies.

Recipes

Give a client access to their numbers.

  1. Open the client’s project, then Settings › Members › Invite people.
  2. Enter their email, choose Member and send.
They can use every report in that project, and nothing outside it. Make a board with the numbers they care about and share it with the team so they find it straight away.

Let a team lead manage invites without touching settings.

  1. Change their role to Admin.
Admins can invite, change roles and remove members, but can’t change project settings or API keys.
